1. Who we are
Stillroom Vault (“Stillroom”, “the app”) is made and owned by Gjin Prelvukaj and Lis Shala, and sold by Gjin Prelvukaj, an individual based in Kosovo (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us about using the app and any licence key you buy. Write to [email protected] with any question about them.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. When you buy, Paddle’s buyer terms apply to the purchase itself. For help with the app, write to [email protected].
2. Your licence
- Free: you may use the app, with every feature, for up to 25 items, for as long as you like.
- Stillroom Vault ($39): one person may use the app without the item limit on every Mac they own or personally use.
- Family ($129): up to five people you choose, each on every Mac they own or personally use.
- Teams: the number of people agreed with us in writing.
A licence includes every 1.x update. A later major version (2.0) may be a paid upgrade; the version you bought keeps working. We don’t promise to make updates, but every update to 1.x is included when we do.
Please don’t share, publish or resell your licence key. It’s checked on your Mac, offline, and carries the email address you bought with.
The app’s source code is separately available under the Functional Source License 1.1
(FSL-1.1-ALv2), and the vault reader in tools/ under the MIT licence. Those licences govern the
source code; these terms govern copies of the app we distribute and the licence keys we sell.
3. Your vault is your responsibility
Stillroom has no server and no account, and we never have a copy of your files, your password, your recovery key or your emergency kit. That’s the point of it, and it means:
- If you forget your password and lose your recovery key and enough kit pieces, nobody can open your vault, not even us. We can’t reset it, recover it or get your files back.
- Keeping backups is up to you. The app makes encrypted backups and can export everything as ordinary files; please use them.
- The app has limits, documented plainly in our security rules: for example, it doesn’t protect against a weak password or against malware with administrator rights while the vault is open, and the decoy is protection against thieves and abusers, not police.
4. No warranty
We build Stillroom carefully and test it, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We don’t promise that it will be free of errors, or that it will keep your data safe from every risk.
5. Limits of our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we are not liable for lost or damaged data, including data you can’t open because a password, recovery key or kit was forgotten or lost;
- we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or lost profits;
- our total liability to you for anything to do with Stillroom is limited to what you paid for your licence.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country you live in.
6. Refunds
You can get a full refund within 14 days of buying, for any reason. See the refund policy.
7. Using it lawfully
Stillroom uses strong encryption. You’re responsible for following the laws that apply where you use it, including rules about encryption and about exporting it. Don’t use or send Stillroom anywhere, or to anyone, that export or sanctions laws forbid.
8. Ending this agreement
If you break these terms, your licence to use Stillroom beyond the free tier ends. Opening, exporting and backing up your vault always keep working, licensed or not: we never hold your files hostage.
9. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, and disputes go to the courts of Prishtina, without taking away any protection the law of your own country gives you as a consumer, including the right to go to your own courts. These terms and Paddle’s buyer terms are the whole agreement about Stillroom. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. You may not transfer your licence without our agreement in writing.
If we change these terms, we’ll post the new version here with its date; the terms you accepted when you bought keep applying to that purchase.
